The Day of Silence is a national event created to display the struggles of LGBTQ+ people, and their oppression. People are encouraged to stay silent as a means of standing in solidarity with LGBTQ+ people who have been forced to stay silent due to safety or societal stigmas. Of course, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, remaining silent in our households does not make as large of an impact, so we have launched a week of action, to spark conversation, education, and tangible action to stand with LGBTQ+ people!

READ THE TOOLKIT!

Learn what LGBTQ+ stands for, language surrounding issues of gender identity and sexual orientation, labels, coming out, and the basics to being an ally to the community. This is a great foundation to the LGBTQ+ community, and introduction to everything we will be discussing during the week of action!

BEING AN LGBTQ+ ALLY

BEING AN LGBTQ+ ALLY

READ THE TOOLKIT!

Being an ally is a lot more than just 'not hating' LGBTQ+ people. It means working against our biases and priveleges in order to stand up for the community. It means standing up for LGBTQ+ people, educating yourself, and ensuring that people in the community feel safe around you.

READ THE TOOLKIT!

In order to be activists today, we must understand the history behind not only the movement, but discrimination and oppression. Read to learn more about LGBTQ+ people, and the community prior to the gay rights movement that started in the 1960s.

In order to fully support the LGBTQ+ community, we must all be up to date on what is happening around the world in terms of rights, attack on dignity, and how we can combat it.
